NY State Fire Codes and Special Programs for Churches
www.bilmarnurseriesinc.com
In 2004 NYS Fire codes were changed to allow the use of real cut trees in churches and most other residential and commercial applications (a few still ban real trees for specific reasons). These areas of "Public Assembly" must be sprinklerd.
We have about 25 large (12 -20') Balsam Fir & Fraser Fir, that we are willing to donate to area churches this year with the following stipulations. This program is for trees to be displayed in church and is not for individuals. (One tree per Church)
1) A letter on church letterhead must accompany participants identifying them with a hold harmless clause for display and harvesting.
2) All harvesting work to be done by church personnel.
3) Proper transportations (truck with 8' min body or trailer) to be provided. 4 Wheel drive is necessary.
4) Church to mention donation in church publication.
5) We can bale Trees for a nominal charge.
6) Trees can be tagged earlier
7) Trees should not be cut too early (prior to Dec. 1) and must be properly watered. Lasting time of tree varies considerably with temperature inside.
8) This program is for large trees only as we have this group that we think will bring significant joy to many people. Please do not shorten them as you will be depriving someone else of the beauty of a big tree.
9) These trees are heavy. Bring your biggest grunts.
